Doing things

September 9th, 2009 by admin

I’ve had a couple conversations lately about the act of making something happen.  These discussions have made me think about the many things I’ve discussed with people that never happened – some of them really good and interesting ideas, but for whatever reason, never happened.  Then I thought about what process occurred that made the other things happen – what actions took place to make those ideas become real.

That’s the difference.

The energy to commit to those actions had to be such that it seemed foolish not to do them.  It had nothing to do with working harder, being serious, etc.  Those traits are what actually made the things that didn’t happen, not happen.  And that’s interesting.

I am very conscious of this now when thinking ahead to the projects I want to work on.  ‘Wanting’ isn’t enough.  It’s about the natural response of doing.

Perhaps a break from some things is, after all, in order.
