We will only be here as long as we can

The result of hands working: constructing, devising, clearing, moving, and building is a complex and broad method or tool of communication which serves multiple purposes – individual, group, social, cultural, spiritual.  From the Tower of Babel to urban planning to arts and crafts, people are sending messages through the activities their bodies are physically involved in.  To think about this as you look around the room you’re in, walk down the street, and opening your eyes to any fabrication or evidence left by mankind, and it’s literally message overload.  If you take into account the personal reason’s only – goal fulfillment, creative impulse, honor for something, those elements alone are abundant evidence of individuals making a mark and creating a ‘place’ in the world.  Remove the material and you have the motives and intent of these impulses, and those things are closer to the idea of communication and the message each individual has to express to others, and to participate in the energy of this place and attempt to address the source of where that energy even comes from. Imagine approaching that communication with purpose all the way down to its base intent, so that the work that is produced in the end – the physical evidence of the message – is fully connected.

This idea is the foundation for the next project I am working on.  It is not a new idea, but something I want to recognize and support as a tradition, something many different groups of people have done since the beginning of time as we know it.
