Music as metaphor
Roger Nierenberg started a program in the 90s called “The Music Paradigm.” Nierenberg, an ex-orchestra conductor, now speaks to companies about how to better understand the dynamics of an organization and create different and better results. I’m curious how much this system encourages executives to think differently about music, and what it is capable of, what it means to individuals and groups, instead of just concentrating on the dynamics of a group, regardless of the activities they participate in.
Nierenberg also has a new book out, called Maestro, which takes scenarios as seen above and presents them within a parable writing style. Regardless of how it will make executives think about music and sound, it does encourage a greater degree of listening, and that is perhaps more fundamental than getting them to appreciate classical music, etc.
